Game: Chicago Cubs @ Milwaukee Brewers

Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers

Reason: The Cubs are glad to get out of New York, where they were swept in a three-game interleague series by the Yankees. That makes four straight losses for Chicago, and six defeats in their last seven games. Tonight they travel to Milwaukee where we suspect the drought will continue. Look for the hometown Brew Crew to grab the opener of this series.

Veteran Greg Maddux will take the hill for the Cubs and he has not been without his struggles of late. A 7.16 ERA in his last three starts has boosted his season mark all the way up to a 4.68 ERA. Maddux is simply not the pitcher he once was, and despite getting over five runs per game of support, the veteran’s record is just 5-4. He’s allowed seven runs in 11 innnings already this season against Milwaukee’s lineup.

Newly acquired Tomo Ohka will start for Milwaukee. He tossed a complete game shutout at Tampa in his first start as a Brewer, and in fact has been solid for most of the season. Despite some rough luck in Washington, Ohka owns a 2.86 ERA and is 2-0 with a 0.93 ERA in his last three outings. He has allowed more than three earned runs just once in his past 10 starts, and his teams have now won the past six times he’s taken the hill.

The home team is already 5-1 when these two hook up this season, and the Brewers own the 4-2 series lead. Milwaukee is 17-12 at home on the campaign, and the Cubs are just 1-7 when opening a series off a loss.

Play Milwaukee

Game: Oakland @ Seattle

Prediction: Seattle Mariners

Reason: Oakland is 10-24 on the road this year as they are scoring just 3.6 runs per game. They continue to struggle offensively as they have not been able to hit consistently.
Sele is pitching terrific ball as of late, allowing 1 earned run or less in 5 of his last 6 starts. He has really fared well against the A's, allowing 3 earned runs or less in 12 straight career starts!!
Seattle is 13-7 in this series and they are getting outstanding pitching as of late in winning 5 of their last 6 games.
Sele because of his journeyman history is flying under the radar as are the improving Mariners.

Take Seattle Mariners

Game: Royals @ White Sox

Prediction: White Sox

Reason: The White Sox are coming off of an impressive sweep of the Dodgers and will pound Jose Lima tonight. US Cellular Field is a launching pad for home runs and Lima has been know to give a bunch up during the season. This fly ball pitcher will not make it through five innings, as the White Sox will emerge victorious.

Game: Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Diego

Prediction: San Diego Padres

Reason: Arms must start: Jake Peavy & Brad Penny
Have to go with Jake Peavy here. The Padres are 9-1 in National League play when Peavy takes the mound. That includes three shut-outs, three 1-run games and a 2-run game, earning him a spectacular 2.79 season ERA & 0.95 WHIP.

That's real consistent with his play against the Dodgers, as Peavy has lost just once in 9 career starts against them, and holds an impressive lifetime 2.59 ERA & 1.15 WHIP.

That already impressive WHIP improves to 1.05 this season in this pitcher friendly ballpark where Peavy has lost just once in 7 starts.

Meanwhile, Dodger starter Brad Penny is a loser in his career against the Padres, with just 2 wins in 7 career starts and a lifetime 5.67 ERA & 1.71 WHIP.

Take Saint Louis Cardinals

Reason: St. Louis w/Carpenter over Cincinnati Cardinals send Cris Carpenter up against the Reds knowing he is 6-0 away this season. Look for the Redbirds to improve to 7-1 on Mondays.

Saint Louis vs Cincinnati

Take Saint Louis Cardinals

Reason: The Cardinals Chris Carpenter is in excellent KW form with a better than 4 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio in his last 3 starts. St. Louis is 6-0 in his road starts this year and they are 9-3 in Game 1 of a road series this year. Even with their 11 run explosion yesterday the Reds are averging just over 3 runs in their last 7 games.

Saludos

Hola Juan Carlos, veo que has retornado.
